Barnes, Sister Joan, (Sister of St Josephs of Chambery), (affectionately known as Aunty Olga to all her nieces and nephews), died 5th May 2023, peacefully in Raheny Community Nursing Unit. Sister Joan was born in Burma on May 20th 1928. She lived a blessed life, one that was filled with sacrifice, love and faith. Sister Joan was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Charlotte, her three sisters Bonchy, Minnie and Connie, her brother Jack, and her niece Leslie. Sister Joan leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews (Maryann, Wendy, Patty, Linda, Paul, Gail, Patrick, Wayne, Hayden, Fred, Christine, Alvah and Monica). Sister Joan also leaves behind several grand nieces and grand nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews and great great grand nieces and great great grand nephews. Her love, care and devotion for the family will never be forgotten. Sr Joan is sadly missed by her sisters in the community, Irish Region and Sisters of St Joseph of Chambery throughout the world. The sisters would like to thank the staff of Raheny Community Nursing Unit and Beaumont Hospital for all there care.

Sister Joan will be reposing at Sisters of St Joseph of Chambery, Springdale Road, Raheny on Tuesday 9th May from 3.00-4.45pm followed by removal to Our Lady Mother of Divine Grace, church Raheny at 5.00pm. Funeral mass will take place Wednesday 10th May at 10.00am and can be viewed via the following link https://rahenyparish.ie/ followed by burial in Dardistown Cemetery.
